Kirk Jones (Everybody’s Fine, Waking Ned Devine) directs What to Expect When You’re Expecting written by Shauna Cross (Whip It) and Heather Hach (Freaky Friday) adapted from the best-selling pregnancy instructional book of the same name. The film follows five couples dealing with the arrival of a child including Rosie (Anna Kendrick), a woman who reunites with an old flame and fellow food-truck owner and becomes pregnant, and Brooklyn Decker as the perky wife of a much older man who sails through her pregnancy with twins, much to the chagrin of her friends. Lionsgate releases the film on May 11th, 2012, appropriately Mother’s Day weekend.
Shauna Cross
One of Variety’s ten screenwriters to watch in 2008, Shauna Cross is the writer of many popular female-driven comedies like Whip It and the upcoming What to Expect When You’re Expecting. After graduating from the University of Texas in Austin, she moved to Los Angeles and supported herself by optioning several screenplays. Although she is a screenwriter, Shauna Cross’ first success was her novel Derby Girl, a story about her own experiences as a roller derby girl. Soon, Drew Barrymore’s company, Flower Films, hired her to adapt the story into a screenplay and Whip It was born.
